Yorkshires Of Parquins Dog Buyer Tips
We know just how hard it is to purchase a puppy online. There are so many questions that never get asked or answered. Find below a list of items you should keep in mind when purchasing your new adult or puppy dog online.
-
Always check our "Official Parquins Breeders List" for a reputable breeder, as well as our Official Parquins Blacklist for those who wish to violate our Official Breeders Listing Agreement.
-
Buy your puppy from a responsible and well-respected breeder. This cannot be stressed enough. Responsible breeders are concerned with the betterment of the breed. For example, they work on breeding healthier dogs with the appropriate temperament for their breed. Once you select a breeder, screen the breeder. Ask to see at least one of the parents (the dam or the sire) of your puppy. If you are able to visit the breeders place of business see how the dogs in your breeder's home interact with your breeder. Are they friendly and outgoing or do they shy away? The responsible breeder will be screening you, too, looking for the best home for each puppy. (above info from AKC)
-
Always get a phone number from the breeder so you may talk to them one on one. If a breeder does not list a phone number at their website, contact them using their email address and ask for the phone number. If they don't have any contact information listed on their website we suggest finding another breeder. -
Ask for a photo copy of the adult or puppy dogs pedigree. Also ask to see pictures of the Sire or Dam.
Most all breeders have contracts and all are different in some ways. Ask for a copy of their contract and read it completely. If there are items in the contract you do not understand, ask the breeder to explain them.
Ask the breeder if they have a guarantee. If they do, request a copy of the guarantee. Read it completely. Certain health items may not be covered in the guarantee. Again if you do not understand the guarantee, ask the breeder to explain.
-
If you are having the dog shipped to your location make sure you understand the shipping charges. Are the charges included in the price of the dog or are the shipping charges separate from the purchase price. -
When inquiring about an adult or puppy dog ask if there is a special diet that is recommended for the dog you want to purchase.
-
Ask your local veterinarian what items around your house such as common house plants are harmful to the breed of dog you wish to purchase. Be prepared to remove all hazards and harmful house plants before bringing your new dog home.
-
If a breeder is not willing to supply you with information or answer your questions beware. You may want to take a step back and find a breeder who is willing to work with you. -
Remember, though there may be bad press or comments about a particular breeder they are not always substantiated. It could be a situation that a consumer is simply angry at a breeder and decided to hurt them with adverse comments. When in doubt, check the BBB Better Business Bureau. There are always two sides to every story.
